- Certification. You do not want just anyone removing a tree limb over the roof of your house. An ISA certified arborist is someone who has passed the International Society of Aboricultures exam and and is trained in the art and science of planting, caring for and maintaining trees. Certified Arborists are required to continue their education to maintain their certification, which means that they are up to date on the latest tree care techniques.
- Insurance. This not only protects the employees working on your property, but protects your property from damages that may occur. What documents should you ask for? Before a tree care company starts your job, ask for copies of general liability insurance ,as well as, a copy of their worker’s compensation policy, any reputable company should be able to provide these within 24 hours.
- References/Credability. Ask for references to find out where the company has done work similar to the work you are requesting. Companies that take great pride in their work will be more than happy to showcase it.
- Professionalism. What does it mean to be a professional tree care company? Well, it means not only meeting the other four criteria, but also being a caring, ethical company. A company that has top notch professioanlism, shows up on time, truly cares about the health and conditions of your trees, and does not reccommend unneccesary care or practices for you trees. You should be able to openly talk about your concerns, ask questions and receive knowlegable answers.
- Get more than one estimate. Getting more than one estimate allows you to choose the right company that can offer the most value for your money. Remember that this may not always be the lowest bid. Your trees are your property’s most valuable asset, and should be given proper care by a qualified professional.
